This review is from: Fear Itself: Heroes for Hire (Hardcover)
Firstly, I bought this book for the wrong reason.I wanted to collect all the tie-ins to "Fear itself" , including "Fear itself". (Big mistake, right?). The "Fear Itself" book turned out to be one of THE worst books ever but this book, well, it was pretty entertaining! I found this series to have quite a few interesting characters. Spider-man is there in a few issues in this collection and the writers have got his charcter perfect , along with his ever-popular witty banter. I hope sometime in the future Abnett and Lanning get to write Spider-Man! That would be really neat!
After the first volume of this series, the reputation of the "Heroes for Hire" agency is completely tarnished and Misty Knight, the in-charge of the agency is trying to get it back in business, with the help of the only staff-member Paladin. And as the story proceeds, she takes the help of a few heroes, by "hiring" them, for each mission.
The relation of this collection with "Fear-itself" is not that great but the good thing is the introduction of a new villain. This character seems to have a great potential for future storylines. Not only for "Heroes for hire" but for other marvel series also.
This book, inspite of NOT being one of Marvel's flagship title, is still pretty decent. In fact, I'm going to pick up the first volume ("Heroes for Hire:Control") immediately! And will be patiently waiting for the future collected-editions of this series!
I wanted to give this three and a half stars but then...it's too good to give only three stars :)
