This album is completely underrated and overllooked, the only lame songs on this album are childhood's end, and Fear Is The Key, and evend they are not as bad as anything on say.. The X Factor. So, In Conclusion avoid the Nay-sayers!!

With Maiden's 1990 release, No Prayer For The Dying, there was no denying it - many of the band's long-time fans thought they were finished. For some reason, people seem to have a strong dislike toward Janick Gers, but he's every bit as good a guitarist as Adrian smith. This point was beautifully demonstrated on the 1992 album, Fear Of The Dark. Read on for track-by-track summaries and opinions, as well as my thoughts on the remastering.Be Quick or Be Dead - The opening track is a fast and furious rock assault you'd have to be a fool not to love. Arguably the best track here. From Here to Eternity - Part Four (and to date, the final part) in the Charlotte series. Of the two nineties songs in this series, this is the superior of the two. Afraid to Shoot Strangers - Slow, dark, gloomy, and hard - this song is a regular masterpiece. Who would've thought an ANTI-war song could be so cool? Fear Is the Key - Not the best track on the album, but a highly underrated little gem. DON'T SKIP IT! Childhood's End - Ditto. Wasting Love - Probably Maiden's most overrated post-eighties song, but it's still a pretty good one that often goes underappreciated by the band's die hard fans. The Fugitive - This is the tale of a man accused of a crime he didn't commit, who must clear his name. Once again, it's an underrated little gem. Chains of Misery - ARGUABLY THE BAND'S MOST UNDERRATED SONG EVER. THIS IS NOT A FILLER, PEOPLE! The Apparition - Yet another one of the "underrated but cool" songs on the album. Judas Be My Guide - Lyrics are the main strength of this one, especially in the chorus. Fear Of The Dark - The title track is a hard and gloomy masterpiece. It's no wonder it's become a fan favorite! Sadly, the remaster series is very disappointing. The only bonus feature you get is some enhanced CD footage. YOU DON'T GET ANY AUDIO BONUS TRACKS! This bites, because there were many rare tracks from this era the band could've used. Overall, this album is considerably better than No Prayer For The Dying and the Di'Anno and Bayley albums, but it still pales in comparison to any other Dickinson album. Still, I strongly recommend it. This is a GREAT album, although some reviewers don't agree.

This was the second Iron Maiden album I ever owned, mostly because it was on sale and I didn't know any better. It's actually a pretty solid album, especially the title track, "Afraid to Shoot Strangers", and "Judas Be My Guide". However, there are a few total dogs on this album, namely "Weekend Warrior" and "Chains of Misery", two songs which go nowhere and aren't up to Maiden's lyrical or musical standards. I still went out and bought the rest of the catalogue after listening to this but it's not the best introduction to Maiden. Stick with any of the albums from the 80's before picking this one up.
