I guess I had really high hopes for this book after reading all the awesome reviews. Maybe I shouldn't have read all the reviews first.Personally, I found the advice kind of detached and the pictures uninspiring. For me the photos had a cold quality - that might be because of the photographer. Its hard to catch the warm spirit of the place and the openness of the physical area at the same time. I do like that the focus wasn't so much on dividing the room up into areas and what each area means - but how the energy flows in general. I like thinking about the flow of energy. Its just that they state it too concretely. "The energy flows like this" instead of "imagine the energy flow like this". Such a concrete statement is too scientific without scientific backup. Overall I suppose its hard to mesh my views on reusing and recycling with my views on keeping a space with clear flowing energy. But thats not a fault of this book - just my beliefs in general. But I did need the kick in the butt to consider the clutter in some areas of my home. There is a lot of it that needs to go, and I'm now on a mission to get rid of it. And I know I will experience a lighter happier me once this is done.

The One Book on Living Every One Should Own,

I've read myriad Feng Shui books over the years, but never one as clear, compelling, and truly motivational and spiritual as this one.Many feng shui books get caught up in what I think of as the excessive elements of feng shui - or the marketable ones. You won't find many three footed toads or alignment of wind chimes in here. What you will find is solid, sane advice for making your home - and your soul - better places to live. I have copied out segments of this book and hung them around my house as inspirations, and this is the one book that I return to again and again. This is a beautiful book; beautiful to look at, beautiful to read, and powerful to follow. It doesn't "should" - it asks questions and thoughtfully suggests alternative ways of clearing the meaningless junk from your home, life, and spirit.

Within a month of owning and utilizing this book my wife and I have already had a couple of fortuitous experiences. Not only is this book a beautiful collection of transforming one's entire life, but the emphasis on the home is what called to me. Teaching yoga, I already know how people's bodies change with dedication, committment, and movement. But, upon putting to use even a few of Jayme's concepts, my and my wife's life has moved in external ways. After cultivating our "Wealth & Prosperity" center, I was paid handsomely to shoot & lead a yoga video... something I've never done. And the following week, when fitting our "Career" center with a fountain, candles, and making that space in our apartment feng shui'd, my wife was offered an opportunity to sing, (her creative talent), with a band that she loves. Two huge shifts in our lives. We're definately continuing to develop the other 7 centers of our home.... and see what happens next. I highly recommend this book, (and yoga - shameless plug for yoga), to create energetic breakthroughs. AND it's beautifully written, photographed, and packaged.
