Fierce Overture,
By Bunny (Canada) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fierce Overture (Paperback)
The Cover says:"Music superstar Noelle Laurent refuses to record the music her producers have lined up for her new album. Prepared to break her contract if necessary, all Noelle wants is a chance to sing her own songs. Desperate, the producers bring in their CEO, business tycoon Helena Forsythe, who is infamous for not taking any prisoners. Noelle expects the CEO to be the company bitch everybody fears but she is not prepared to be so affected by Helena's formidable presence and charisma. For Helena, it's all about the money, so why change a winning game plan? However, when Noelle shows unexpected strength and courage in the negotiations, Helena knows she has to change her usual steamroller approach. Trying charm instead of brute force, Helena is blind-sided by her own unexpected feelings. When Noelle responds in kind, the stakes escalate for both women, who risk not only their professional futures but everything when it comes to their hearts."

Kept my attention, Almost Frustrated, Enjoyed Epilogue,
By FTLOH - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Fierce Overture (Paperback)
I have to say I enjoyed Brooke's "Fierce Overture". From the beginning the tension between Helena & Noelle caught and kept my attention and like Noelle in the story, just when I was almost frustrated with the back and forth of Helena, the story would take a different direction. The supporting characters were ok, and helped to deter from the indecisiveness, making this a good, not great read. I enjoyed the epilogue, it seemed to wrap up the story quite well.

Page Turner,
By Avid - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Fierce Overture (Paperback)
I couldn't seem to put this book down once i really got into it. Even though one of the main characters, Helena makes you want to take her and shake some sense into her, she really grows into the character you want her to be. As for Noelle the other main character, she is written as very down to earth, just one of those people you'd like to meet in real life. Loved this book, great read.

Not So Fiercely Good,
By P. Bigelow - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Fierce Overture (Paperback)
Helena Forsyth is the force behind Venus Media & Publishing, Noelle Laurent is the country's hottest pop star and under contract to VMP. When Noelle decides she wants to record her own songs on her next CD, she knows she's taking on the formidable Helena. When Helena's well known strong-as-steel will power slips and she kisses Noelle, both women's lives are changed forever. While both women are intelligent, neither is able to talk to the other about her feelings, and in the case of Helena, she never tells Noelle she's concerned about their age difference. Both women are beautiful, accomplished, wealthy, and live privileged lives. Brooke has created two characters who should appeal to most readers - a high-powered businesswoman and a pop star used to getting her way, but without being spoiled. They are reduced to quivering messes when love unexpectedly rears its head between them. This book needed a firm editorial hand, but didn't get it. There are several editorial gaffes - point of view issues, character inconsistencies, contrived plotting devices, and cliched characters - to name but four. Then there is the issue of sexual harassment that one of the characters mentions, and the author seems to think that takes care of the issue. If this sort of thing drives you out of a story, this may not be the book for you. If you never notice these kinds of things, you will undoubtedly enjoy this book. |
