This book makes the Twilight series looks like a masterpiece! It is so terribly written and so one dimensional. The book is basically Anastasia's "subconscious" (yeah, don't get me started on that) telling her that the relationship isn't right for her, but because he is "so hot" and he sticks himself in her whenever he gets the chance, her "inner goddess" (yeah, don't get me started on that either) won't allow her to use her brain. Now I am not a prude or bothered by the BDSM themes in the book, but I can say that these are the most boring sex scenes ever written. I actually started skimming over them because they were so repetitive and did not add anything to the story. In addition, Christian Grey is probably the most annoying character ever. He is condescending, constantly orders Anastasia to eat and stop biting her lip, he freaks out when she doesn't answer emails or calls, etc. If he was not good looking, he would never get away with any of his crap. He is not a dom. He is abusive. He is messed up and angry about his past and he takes it out on women. He likes to control women because deep down he hates them. He was also the victim of statutory rape, but he doesn't see that as a problem. The character is NOT sexy. Women should not stay with men because they constantly convince themselves that they can change them. I don't know if I can stomach reading the rest of the series. It is so bad. There are so many better erotic romance novels out there!
