2.0 out of 5 stars Out of the pit, Aug 4 2009

This review is from: Fighting Fantasy Advanced Out Of The Pit (Paperback)
The book was listed in pretty good shape, i guess that means full of creases and cover barely hanging on. Not pleased with order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old School Monsters are Still the Best, Feb 11 2011

This review is from: Fighting Fantasy Advanced Out Of The Pit (Paperback)
Out of the Pit is a very old school "monster manual" for the Fighting Fantasy world. What makes it amazing is that though every monster in the book is only described by two stats, they are all highly unique and imaginative (especially given how long ago they were created). For me the book is a reminder of how cool RPGs really used to be, and could be again, if only we used our creativity instead of just rehashing "proven" formulas. Out of the Pit was my very first RPG book, and is still one of my all-time favourites. Not many books stand the test of time like that, and reading it was like visiting with a trusty old friend I hadn't seen in many years. Five stars is my rating.
