Synopsis

In this teenage horror film, a young man avoids the hand of death, only to find that he can't get away from it so easily. On the way to Paris with his high-school French club, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) has a vivid premonition of the plane crashing and killing all its passengers. After Alex and some other passengers demand to be let off the flight, his premonition turns out to be true, and the jet explodes during takeoff. While the FBI is convinced that Alex was involved in some kind of foul play, the passengers who got off the flight are all dying in horrible ways, as if whoever determined that the passengers would perish is punishing those who cheated death. Final Destination marked the feature directorial debut of James Wong, a producer and director for the TV series The X Files. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

5.0 out of 5 stars unique,effective thriller (4.5/5), Aug 5 2007
By falcon "disdressed12" (canada) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
this is a pretty good entry in the thriller genre, with a twist.the
killer in this one is unseen.death,to be exact.the unique premise in
this one is that death has a design and is targeting a group of people
according to that same design.sounds far fetched and way out there,
right?well it is,and if you have trouble,suspending your disbelief,this
is not your movie.many of the things that happen defy belief.but, get
your head around that, and you have a thrilling, intense movie.it may be
pretty gruesome for some people.it's also quite oppressive in
feel.there is a definite pallor of doom hanging over it.overall,it's
very effective.i enjoyed it a lot and highly recommend it to anyone who
likes the thriller genre of movies.just remember to throw any semblance
of realty out the window before watching. 4.5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars "Let's go take a $#!^", Jul 13 2004
By A. Banaag - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This movie is awesome! It was cleverly written, with very gruesome death scenes, which I like.
This movie's about Death's individual plan for all of us, and it warns us to live life as if you were alive (confusing, i know).
It starts off with a big class of high schoolers on theie way to Paris. One of the kids, Alex,(Sawa) gets a premonition about the plane exploding. He makes this very clear, and gets thrown off along with a few other kids. Then, as soon as the plane departs, it explodes! (Go figure) Several months later, the survivors all start dying in "freak accidents", or the police say so. Something is killing the survivors. Will someone find out what's going down, before they all do?

3.0 out of 5 stars FINAL DESTINATION-SHADES OF "DAMIEN", Jul 8 2004
By "jimbranca" (SEWELL, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
I ENJOYD FINAL DETINATION AND THOUGHT IT WAS WAY BETTER THAN OVERATED CRAP LIKE SCREAM AND I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER BUT AS I WATCHED THIS FILM I COULDNT'T HELP BEING REMINDED OF THE OMEN AND DAMIEN OMEN II THESE TWO CLASSIC FILMS WERE THE FIRST TO HAVE ACCIDENTAL CREATIVE DEATH SCENES AND DID THEM
WITHOUT THE HELP OF COMPUTER GRAPHICS. IN FINAL DESTINATION INSTEAD OF SATAN CAUSING THE HORRIFIC DEATHS WE HAVE THE GRIM REAPER. IT JUST SEEMED TO ME EVERY TIME SOMEONE WAS ABOUT TO CROAK IN THIS FILM I WAS WAITING FOR THOSE CREEPY DEVIL CHANTS
OR DAMIEN'S RAVEN TO SHOW UP JUST LIKE OMEN II.MY ADVICE FOR A RAINY DAY WATCH THE OMEN,DAMIEN-OMEN II, FINAL DESTINATION AND
FINAL DESTINATION II.
