4.0 out of 5 stars Different but good Jun 30 2004
Format:DVD
The animation is odd... the hand-drawn is good, the computer animation is mostly good, but together it's not so good. So be prepared.

It's also not entirely for kids... the Magun is so blatantly phallic it's funny.

But you have all the things that make Final Fantasy: chocobos, summoning, a huge plot, and Cid. The four episodes on disc 1 make you wanting more, just to learn what you don't know yet.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good anime series... for kids. Feb 20 2004
Format:DVD
I'm a big fan of the Final Fantasy games and also of anime, so when I saw this series available on DVD I rushed out and got the first phrase. It's not a bad series, but it's not for everyone - and it's certainly not something I would recommand to most people. It has interesting characters, amazing music (some straight from the games), and some nicely done animation... But one main thing stops me from liking it, is that it seems to be aimed at kids. The voice acting is afterschool-cartoon-grade, the art direction is cutesy and immature, and the same goes for the plot, which again is cutesy, immature and thin as rice paper.

If you're after a Pokemon or Digimon type cartoon show, then this is for you. However if you're after mature Miyazaki-grade anime then look elsewhere.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing!! Dec 7 2003
By Vash79
Format:DVD
I have been a big fan of Final Fantasy since I played the first game for Nintendo. I have been eagerly awaitng this set to come out. However when I watched the first episode, I was very disappointed, the animation is terrible, the story is weak, does not resemble the series at all. I don't think any fan of the series will be happy with this set.

In episode 22 they could've made a little more sense otherwise this one is excellent! This one is a must-have although there's some sad parts.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 episodes?
Why are there only 3 episodes on this DVD but the price is the exact same as one with 4 episodes? I think the series is starting to fall apart at this point. Read more
