Book Description

May 1 2008
It's the mid-1960s and the British secret intelligence service is hit by a series of defection scandals. Facing considerable personal danger, Jane Moneypenny combines forces with 007 to try to smoke out a mole that she is convinced is buried deep in the heart of the Office. But as Bond is sacked and M forced into retirement, Moneypenny may have to find him alone. Forty-two years later, Miss Moneypenny's niece and heir, Kate Westbrook, starts to suspect that her aunt's death was not an accident. She is sure the clues to what happened lie in the search for the mole. But as she pieces them together, she realises that there are significant forces determined to prevent her. From the glamour of 1960s Jamaica to the treacherous beaches of the Outer Hebrides, Final Fling relates the thrilling adventures of the world's most famous secretary and reveals just how far people are prepared to go to defend -- or betray -- their beliefs.

5.0 out of 5 stars fitting finale Feb 15 2009
By timmer TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
Final Fling ties up the 3 volume Moneypenny Diaries with a nice neat bow.
Unlike the first two books, Final Fling continues beyond Ian Fleming's timeline. In Final Fling James Bond has concluded his business with Scaramanga in The Man With The Golden Gun, while Moneypenny coninues her searach for the mole in MI6. The action takes places in both the 60's as well as the present time. Moneypenny's niece Kate Westbrook picks up her aunt's investigation of the mole, in the present day. Along with tying up the final days of both Moneypenny and M and their quest for closure in the mole affair, we gain further insight into the legend that is James Bond.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun! Nov 19 2008

For anyone who is a fan of the James Bond movies, this is a great romp of a read. This fictional book is in the form of the long-lost diary of Miss Moneypenny, M's secretary and unrequited lover of James Bond. "Written" by her niece, the book described Miss M's adventures WITH Bond--who knew she was that brave and resourceful?
I've read all 3 books and enjoyed them all immensely. Wish there were more!

Never knew there was a story behind the Bond movies number one lady. Great little series - wish there were more. Fast shipping, too. Recommend it for entertaining reading.
2.0 out of 5 stars Predictable fan fiction Nov 10 2012

Some nice characterizations. But the pacing was slow, the action not very exciting, the mystery predictable, and the "surprise" ending trite. A disappointment.

But the author did write some beautiful characterizations.
