Product Description

The preeminent source for Lost fans, this fourth volume of the popular companion series finds the show having regained both audience fervor and critical praise as the rescued "Oceanic 6" decide whether or not to return to the island for those left behind. Featuring the most comprehensive episode guide available as well as many never-before-seen photos, this resource is invaluable for all followers of Lost, whether casual viewers or hard-core theorists. With an analysis of how John Locke could become the mysterious Jeremy Bentham, the in-depth handbook also includes background information on the show's historical, philosophical, religious, and literary references, such as those alluding to James Joyce's Ulysses and Stephen King's The Stand.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll be Lost without this book, Nov 15 2009
By Jasz (Calgary, AB Canada) - See all my reviews
For a show as complex and layered as Lost you need a good tour guide to keep you from missing important information and making sense of what you see. That's Nikki Stafford.

I have been a fan of Nikki's since her Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel books. She is a true fan of the show, not a paycheck-automaton that has little interest in what they are writing and can be as dry as a technical journal. Nikki's book makes you feel as if you are having a water-cooler conversation the day after watching an ep. You may not agree with everything she says but that's still better than having a rah-rah cheerleader who proclaims everything equally great, even those eps that have you wondering if the real writers were abducted by aliens and clueless hacks deposited in their place.

This is no mere plot recap book. She assumes that, as an avid fan you've actually seen the show. Her writing is thoughtful and thought-provoking. She poses questions, inviting the reader to further explore the show's intentions and points out pertinent tidbits that may have been forgotten, helping to clarify storylines and characters' actions and motives. She's also witty and makes for a fun read.

If your'e anything like me and can't quite remember everything that happened from one season to the next, this book is indispensable before the next season begins in order to freshen your memory.
