Dr. Charles Stanley is a world-renowned author, having written a vast array of Christian books (at least 43 that I counted), over the course of about 30 years. He is also the Senior pastor a 15,000 member Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, where he has served also for 30 years. Dr. Stanley has also earned the admiration and respect of a wider audience through his In Touch Ministries, a radio and television broadcast around the world in thirty-three languages. As one begins to read this new book Finding Peace, it becomes obvious that Stanley really does know what he is talking about. He writes with warm, yet firm fatherly counsel, and one almost gets the picture of a one-on-one fire-side chat taking place. He has chosen a topic of increasing need in our terror-ridden world, PEACE. But Stanley does not launch into some defensive rant as I've been reading in many other American authors since 9/11, 2001. Much rather, his pastoral care comes shining through as he gently guides the reader through the maze of Regret, Anxiety, and Fear, three deeply debilitating realities for many people struggling to find genuine and lasting peace in their lives. His desire in writing this book is to show humanity that there are tools available to us to help us to find, secure, develop and hold on to deep lasting calm in the midst of the stressful times we live in. This calm in the midst of the storm is found in one source alone for Stanley. It is found in a relationship with God, a trustful, daily, confidence that He knows all about our problems, and He alone can guide us through them. Without giving away any more of the great contents of this book, I simply wish to highly recommend it to my fellow strugglers out there. Read it and drink deeply from its wisdom.

Dr. Stanley's second-greatest book Dec 8 2005
By Mike - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I've always felt that "The Source of My Strength" was Charles Stanley's unchallenged masterpiece. "Finding Peace" runs a close second. While it should be common sense for all, we need to be reminded on occasion that life is to be "lived," not "endured." Anxiety, fear, worry...these are all a matter of choice. And YES, it's easy to say that, but just as we make a choice to burden ourselves with those emotions, it requires a conscious choice to free ourselves. Charles Stanley offers practical wisdom, not "easy" solutions or pop psychology. It's a matter of faith: trusting God, trusting yourself. The people who are willing to do so, even if it requires a series of attitude adjustments, are the intended audience for this book. I've given it as a gift to close friends and will continue to do so. Very highly recommended.

A great grasp of the "human" condition May 3 2005
By A. Calabrese - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I have always admired Dr. Charles Stanley. For this Christian he has always been a source of wisdom. The Book FINDING PEACE is just the ticket if you, like me, at times, find yourself frustrated and not at peace. It is good practical, Bible based wisdom. It is a great study of the human condition. The only fault I find with the book, and it is a minor one, is that it is one thing to take control of your thinking and quite another to be caught up in circumstances beyond your control. I think that could have been addressed a bit more thoroughly. That being said, there is a lot of great Bible based advice in this book. I can recommend it.

Another Great Title by Pastor Charles Stanley!!! Sept. 27 2007
By Michael Taylor - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
"Finding Peace" is yet another great book by Charles Stanley. The book's focus is on realizing that our peace rests on our personal relationship with Jesus Christ instead of circumstances. Dr. Stanley challenges the reader to take responsibility and be proactive in finding peace through a relationship with God instead of fuming and fretting over the situations we find ourselves in.

Among the great points mentioned in the book are:

1. Issues that can cause destructive conflict.
2. God is larger than our challenges.
3. Four clear signs of God's peace.
4. Why we lose our peace.
5. 5 essentials beliefs for a peaceful heart.
6. 7 categories of peace-destroying thoughts.
7. 5 vital questions to ask yourself about regret.
8. Results of anxiety.
9. 7 steps to overcoming fear.
10. 4 keys to living in contentment.

I also appreciated Dr. Stanley describing his own struggles when his wife filed for divorce and yet was able to obtain peace through the trial.

Read and be encouraged to seek peace in the Lord instead of yourself, others, or your circumstances!

Highly recommended.
