Fire Hose Stretch'n Fetch Small Toy

Excellent interactive toy!
As a dog trainer, we are constantly seeking interactive toys for obedience work. This toy is excellent for exactly that.
The handle is elastic and can easily be chewed off by a dog, however when using this tug for training, it's exceptionally "user friendly." The handle is large enough to slide all the way up the arm to the bicep muscle, making a hands free lure... VERY helpful for precision work, even better is the fact that the handle is covered with material that doesn't chafe - meaning that you can loop it around your wrist while working your dog without the risk of rope burn.
The tug itself is very durable. No problem with the 90# German Shepherd full grip on this toy. The stitching is very good and the material is excellent.
The "caution" on the product should be noted before using this product - this is an INTERACTIVE TUG/FETCH toy, NOT a chew toy. It's intended to play WITH your dog NOT for your dog to play with or chew on. If you are looking for a toy for your dog to chew, this is NOT the product!

We have had this toy in active every-other-daily use for several years... the same one we originally ordered... minus the tug loop. We have an Entlebucher Sennenhund with titanium jaws, and the tug loop could not survive the vigorous tugging she subjected it to. Note that she did not chew the tug loop; she yanked it out, blasting it with her tugging! That tug loop lasted about two weeks, after which I cut off the dangling threads. The remainder (except for the squeaker) appears to be equivalent to "Kyjen Fire Hose Squeak 'n Fetch Dog Toy, Large, Red" available elsewhere in Amazon. Minus its tug loop, this toy has lasted longer than any other toy she has. One end is just like new... that's the end we hold for tug play. The other end is quite flattened by her jaws... and became so gradually over the course of several months. For some unknown reason our dog does not "scissor" this toy (using her side teeth to tear the fabric apart), as she does to any other stuffed toy, or she would likely have torn it apart pronto. She seems to understand that this one is strictly for tugging. So if you can get that through your dog's brain... this one will last... depending on how you define "last". We call it a winner. Pity the tug loop isn't as durable as the body of the toy, but the designers should be praised (have a treat!) for making it elastic, as that was intended to minimize shock to your wrist and arm as your dog's head tugs back and forth. Good idea, not quite perfect execution. Four stars.

As soon as I opened this toy when it came in the mail, my 5 dogs were excited to play with it. We had a great time playing tug, whether it was one or two of the dogs versus me or versus each other. They were playing keep away from each other, racing around the yard and trying to steal it from each other and playing tug when they caught up with whoever had it. It seemed to hold up well to their vicious tugging and believe me, my dogs can play tug and rip just about anything in two!

The problem came when one of them laid down and just started chewing on it. My Rottweiler/Puggle mix had one corner chewed off within 5 minutes of it arriving in the mail. I got them racing and tugging again but when they stopped to rest my all American mix chewed another corner off.

Since the tag did caution that it is "For supervised play only", I give this toy a good rating. All the dogs and I were having fun playing with it. I love the design and the durability of it during rough tug play. I just make sure to lay it up for the next play session so none of them chews it to pieces (which my 5 do with all their toys even the strongest Kongs).
