I first read this novel years ago, and the characters have stayed with me since that first read. I've lost the book and repurchased it three times now, to keep it in my library.

Reed and Kathleen are a terrific couple. Kathleen was a fantastic heroine - definitely not your run of the mill damsel in distress. She's so spunky and lively and interesting to follow, you'll end up loving her. LOL

I was thoroughly excited to find the sequel to this novel years later. A great escape read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing! Oct 25 2003
Format:Paperback
This book was the first Catherine Hart novel I've ever read. She had a wonderful blend of true character development, fantasy, and romance. I was hard pressed to put the book down. I found I just couldn't concentrate on much else until I finished it! haha! If you're looking for a book that will hold your attention and captivate your imagination this is it!! Don't pass it up! It's one of those books you'll want to read again and always keep in your collection as a constant recommendation to others. Enjoy! :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, but utterly predictable Dec 30 2002

Format:Paperback
This is some lovely brain candy; a decent way to waste a day curled up with a book. There really isn't much here that's shocking or surprising, but it's a good story, although the hero protagonist is the best swordsman, the best ship's captain and the most beautiful woman in the universe. If that kind of character doesn't annoy you, then you'll enjoy this novel.
