Product Description

The task of freeing a race of FireDrakes from the grip of an evil sorceress has fallen upon the shoulders of a young untried Daemon Knight. The job seems simple enough; just retrieve the magical amulet she is using to hold them in thrall, but most of the FireDrakes don't want his help, and he has fallen in love with the beautiful sorceress. The question is: will love or duty prevail?

This is a refreshing new entry to the Fantasy genre and provides great reading entertainment. The author brings a mature touch to the characterization of both the principal and minor characters in the book, which lends extra plausibility to story line. The ending of the book makes it clear that this story is just beginning, and will be continued in the future. - Allen Hustad, Kelowna Daily Courier

Sometimes a first novel can hold the promise of something fine that will materialize as an author matures in his craft. For Canadian author David Korinetz, however, his first novel is polished, his plot expertly devised, and his characters uniquely drawn. Here there is the promise of much more for years to come. - Janie Franz, Myshelf.com

"David Korinetz's FireDrakes is an entertaining, fast-paced novel of medieval Knights and sorcery. Korinetz creates a detailed and fascinating world..."- Todd A. Fonseca - author of The Time Cavern

5.0 out of 5 stars Korinetz Hits the Mark Once Again, Oct 29 2007
By Keith M. Fielding "Keith Fielding" - Published on Amazon.com

Even if you don't know the difference betwen a Fire Drake and a Mallard or you can't tell a sorcerer from a saucepan you will love this thrilling tale. Devotees of the genre and newbies alike will be enthralled by the carefully crafted plot, the cleverly drawn characters, and the creativity that Korinetz displays as he introduces us to the extraordinary but always belivable continent of Coronis.

David Korinetz has a way of enticing the reader into his fantasy world so that its awesome possibilities dawn on us with gradual, step by step revelation. Soon we are embroiled in a struggle between good and evil in an entirely plausible environment where history and folk lore mould behaviour just as much as any instinctive response to mystery and danger.

I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping tale.

Knights, Fire Drakes, Chronicles and a map depicting a Kingdom featuring mountain passes and swamps - anything less than an action packed quest would be disappointing.

Fire Drakes fails to disappoint. The history, geography and magical elements create a realistic world. Sir Rodney and his fellow knights are engaging companions; I enjoyed the twists and turns of the journey and look forward to my next trip to the continent of Coronis.

I am a sucker for a good fantasy story and this one does not disappoint. A warrior's delight with flashing swordplay, powerful magic, and clashing armies decorate the pages in high style. The tale is well written and delivers interesting characters that will draw you in. I definitely recommend this book. =)
