3.0 out of 5 stars Fired Up by JAK, Jan 13 2012
This review is from: Fired Up: Book One in the Dreamlight Trilogy (Mass Market Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book, the characters are believable and the plot is easy to get into and understand.
While this story takes a bit of time to get suspenseful, and the ending is a bit predictable, I couldn't
put the book down until it was finished. (It took me roughly 2.5 hours to read with no interruptions) I
purchased the hard cover version of this book, from Chapters for 7.99 + tax and found it to be a reasonable
price and am content with adding it to my book collection. While obviously, JAK has quite a few better reads,
I found the characters particularly intriguing as well as JAK's interpretation of their "personal issues"
when confronted with abnormal circumstances (mainly their Psychic powers). All in all, a good read.

3.0 out of 5 stars AUDIO CD version - Too many skips, Mar 11 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you enjoy this type of story, then you will likely enjoy this one.
However, if you are getting the cd version, be careful.
There are a lot of skips/ cut off sentences/ and duplicate words in this one.
I don't know if I just got a bad set, but it is disappointing.
It's not that big of deal as far as the story goes, you can figure out
what they were going to say, and it really doesn't change the story - as you are not really missing much.
Just wanted to let you know that there were a lot of 'technical' problems.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a Favourite, April 5 2011
This review is from: Fired Up (Hardcover)
There's just too much about how secret societies work, how their para-senses work, about the characters' bloodline, how the characters reason out everything ... but there's not enough about other aspects of the story that are just as crucial. Hopefully, this is only because the first book is the "set-up" book for the rest of the trilogy.

For a contemporary romantic-suspense, the romance was barely there, while the suspense might only start once you've hit chapter 41 of 61. There may have been some hot love-making behind the scenes, but as for what reader can get, there are only 2 "hot" but short scenes. I think the book's description describes too much of what happens in the book.Chloe Harper and Jack Winters may be meant for each other, but I didn't feel much of anything for the characters. Their para-senses may work well together, they work well as a team, but that's about it in terms of chemistry.

However, the plot is good and the setting isn't bad. The Dreamlight Trilogy may be a great trilogy as the premise is interesting and intriguing, but Book One of this trilogy (also Book Seven of the Arcane Society novels) didn't do the trick for me.
