About the Author
Michael A. Terpak began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter with the Singac Fire Co. in Little Falls, NJ. He later became an auxiliary firefighter with the City of Newark Fire Department in 1978, and a career firefighter in 1981 in Jersey City. In 1984, he took a short leave from Jersey City to become a firefighter with the City of New York, only to return to Jersey City where he currently is assigned as the Chief of the 2nd Battalion in the city's Greenville section. Terpak is actively involved with a number of County Fire Academies throughout the state of New Jersey, and continues to teach and take as many classes as he can. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Safety Administration from New Jersey City University.
