Review

This story of a power agentas lowly second assistant has a lot of heart to go along with its smarts. (Malcolm Jones, "Newsweek") --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Book Description

In The Second Assistant, readers across the country found a heroine they loved to love in Lizzie Miller, the smart and witty East Coast girl clinging for dear life to the bottom rung of the Hollywood ladder. But no more coffee runs and sorting thumbtacks by color for Lizzie; she's been promoted. As first assistant to Scott Wagner, now president of The Agency and one of Hollywood's premiere movers and shakers, she's making decisions and learning the ins and outs of the business. But unlike the other airhead assistants, she's not being wooed by the glamour and mystique of Lala Land. At least, that's what she tells herself. But with a fabulous boyfriend and visions of Harry Winston diamonds and a black AmEx dancing in her head, it is getting harder for Lizzie to keep her pumps firmly on the ground. In The First Assistant, Clare Naylor and Mimi Hare have again joined forces to take a wry and hilarious look at the wheeling, dealing, schmoozing, and snubbing that make Hollywood the cutthroat capital of the world. Readers are hungry for more-and The First Assistant is just the romp into the red-carpet world that they crave.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than The First, Oct 13 2006
This review is from: First Assistant (Hardcover)
"The First Assistant" is even better than "The Second Assistant" and I absolutely loved it! This is pure chick-lit, but mixed in with some super knowledge of Hollywood. It's almost like the authors are Hollywood "Insiders". Throughout the entire book, your cheering Lizzie on, you're happy for her, you're sad for her, and you're excited for her. Lizzie has both bad and great things happen to her, and she goes through heartbreak and new love. The great thing about this book is you could read this sequel first. However, it's just awesome if you've already read "The Second Assistant". For fans of "girl-reading" I give this book a "major" thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read book : You'll never want to put it down, Jan 17 2007
This book was just what I expected. The Second Assistant (the first book) was so funny I found myself laughing uncontrollably. It was so good I didn't want to put it down. Going into the First assistant I have high expectations naturally. Well I was defiantly not let down in any way. The relationships that are expolored in this book continue to be outright hilarous. I really hope Clare Naylor and Mimi Hare write together again because they have become my some of my favorite authors.
