5.0 out of 5 stars Blackie Lawless rules!!!, Jan 4 2004

This review is from: First Blood Last Cust (Audio CD)
Lawless friggin' lights up the speakers with his singing. Wasp in my mind is one of the more durable metal bands to come out of the eighties, hell last time I looked, they're still making music recently. They are also one of the best. Step aside Motley Crue, Poison and Warrant, you guys are awesome too, but way too mainstream at times. Wasp's dark and violent ideals really appeal to me. Instead of "Lookin for Nothin' But a Good Time" Lawless and his gang "F##k Like a Beast." What I'm saying is the music is more hardcore, with attitude and balls. Some of the key tracks are "Blind in Texas" and the anthem "Wild Child," not to mention the previous mentioned "F##k Like a Beast." This should be a surprise, they also have one of the greatest heavy metal power ballads of all time, "Hold Onto My Heart." Believe me, people this song is a tear jerker. Have kleenex in hand while listening. Never heard of it, man you just don't know what you're missing. It puts "Every Rose.." and "Heaven" to bed. BEAUTIFUL!!! The newest greatest hits album that Wasp put out is missing some of the tracks that were on this one, which makes it very disappointing. If you're gonna get a Wasp Greatest Hits Album, then it should be this one instead. Yes it's outta print and can be a bugger to find. But if you can track it down and score it reasonably priced then do it!! Wasp never achieved the level of popularity that groups like Poison and Motley Crue did, but they left their mark. Very impressive metal band. Enjoy!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great WASP "best of" CD, Feb 29 2008
By I Rock "I'm a Rocker" - Published on Amazon.com
WASP's First Blood Last Cuts serves as a good single disc best of. If you want a good intro to the band, want to have their big "hits" collected, or get the hard-to-find single "Animal" without paying a lot, this is the CD to get. The CD, like the band, starts out very strong and kind of fades as it gets older. But I like WASP's catchy 80s metal songs, Chris Holmes underrated and excellent guitar playing, and Blackie's potent vocals and captivating sense of style for this genre. If you're into 80s metal and don't have any WASP, this CD is boarderline "must have." I'd say half of it is must have, but for the few bucks it costs to buy used, very worth it. My favorite tracks include: Animal (the first WASP song I ever heard... and on FM radio(!), and still their best), I Wanna be Somebody (my favorite Holmes guitar solo and 2nd favorite all time WASP song), Blind In Texas (very funny and very rocking- classic Blackie), Wild Child (heaviest WASP rocker), I Don't Need No Doctor. I also like their cover of The Who's "The Real Me."
