She didn't want Prince Charming, just a guy who kept his promises. . . .The empty tables said it all: Connor Hughes's potluck benefit dinner was a disaster--until Shelby Ferguson showed up with a van full of food! Shelby figured her sister's canceled wedding and Connor's too casual plan to rebuild his aunt's house showed just how unreliable men could be, but Connor wanted a chance to prove her wrong. He'd given up hoping for a lady as smart and strong as she was sexy, but could Shelby be the one?
In a witty, wise, and warmly romantic tale, Donna Valentino maps the splendidly chaotic journey as a couple who agree to be just friends tumble headlong into passion! Could a man who'd vowed never to play by the rules and a woman who insisted on playing it safe learn just how much fun it was to dance with destiny

"What do you have in the bag?" Connor asked.
"Oh, this is just a . . . a dog bed." She plunged botb arms into the bag, giving him a heart-stopping look at her cleavage.
He held the bottom of the bag while she tugged. It came out with a whooshy slide. He guessed it was a quilt, or a comforter.
"That's no dog bed," he said.
"Are you refusing to take my word on it?"
"I don't see a single dog hair on it anywhere."
"Hmm. You might be right. I might've brought the comforter from my bed instead of Fergie's."
So it was a comforter. And it had most likely come from Shelly's bed.
"Maybe I'd better take it into the dining room and spread it out on the floor so I can inspect it."
She left him sitting there and walked with the comforter into the dining room.
Shelby. Dark empty room. Puffy soft bed thing spread all over the floor.
He was after her like a shot.
