This is the first written history of the 306th Bomb Group which was based at AF Station 111, Thurleigh, England.
Its claim to fame occurred on 27 January 1943 when it became the first group in the US Eighth Air Force to attack Germany proper by dropping bombs on the town of Wilhemshaven. The book provides a limited narrative history of the group including summaries of operational missions, casualties and raid scores. A few of the groups 341 missions are described in detail. Strong points include the many photographs of base activities, planes, crews, personnel and the professional drawings of heroic airmen.
