Monitor your day with the Fitbit One - this tracker aims to empower and encourage you by delivering real-time feedback that helps you be more active. Why not take the stairs instead of the elevator? Or go for a quick walk after lunch? Those steps will add up fast. One tracks steps taken, stairs climbed, distance travelled, calories burned, hours slept and quality of sleep. Powered by Fitbit's leading-edge accelerometer and altimeter, the One accurately captures all-day activity that old-school pedometers can't handle. It bases calculations like calories burned on your personal profile - reflecting your stats.

Syncs your stats for you

All you need to do is sign up for your free account on Fitbit.com and register your device (which you can also do via select Bluetooth 4.0/Bluetooth Smart smartphones). After that, your stats will sync automatically, giving you real-time access to all that outstanding data on your Fitbit dashboard.

Help you get your ZZZS
Helps you get your ZZZs

Fitbit One doesn't nap, even when you do. Slip it into your wrist band at night, and it'll measure your sleep cycle. Once the data syncs, graphs on your dashboard will reveal how long you slept and the number of times you woke up, giving you a sleep quality score. Over time, you can apply what you learn to help you sleep more soundly. The One also has a silent wake alarm that gently vibrates to wake you at your desired time, without disturbing your partner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Motivator! Nov 30 2012

I purchased my Fitbit One just under a week ago, so I am still learning more about it. I did read over the past two reviews and wanted to mention, there is a full user manual available online for the One: [...] You can also email them for any questions you may have and I've found them quick to respond.

As for sleeping, if you find it's saying your sleep accuracy is a lot greater than you believe it is, you can change the sensitivity for "normal" to "sensitive" (so you can calibrate it, in a sense). This is for those who have problems sleeping but aren't people who move around a lot. Support also will help with issues with this and there are quite a few questions on their FAQ. I've found it fairly accurate so far. Most nights I completely agree with, it even shows the exact times online that I was awake and I knew that was true; there's only been one night that I was unsure if the result were accurate, but if it does that again I will look into it further and contact their support team.

I cannot yet comment on flights of stairs. Today it told me I walked 15 000 steps and 25 flights of stairs. I did walk up a tall, long, lengthy hill from my school's campus today, then I walked aways downtown and home, then out for a walk later that night, so it certainly feels accurate to me -- however, I haven't watched the numbers on the screen close enough to know for sure.

The steps seem accurate. I have walked around my apartment watching the numbers and they were very much spot on.

I enjoy linking this to MyFitnessPal and having my daily caloric goals showing the results of the extra exercise. Which -- being able to use bluetooth and have the results sync immediately on my iPhone through WiFi is amazing! Such a motivator! I've never really walked to campus before now, but I'm starting to love it! It's pushing me to want to do even more.

There are groups on MyFitnessPal for Fitbit users, and groups on the Fitbit site for connecting with other users for motivation. I haven't used this enough yet, but it sounds like something I'd like to try to get into. There's also quite a list of apps that the Fitbit works with on the Fitbit website, and looking through them I'm quite excited to try them all out. One even gives rewards for steps and physical activity tracked on this device, similar to on the Striiv Pedomoeter -- I'm stoked to learn more!

I have definetly been enjoying it so far and will update this review as a I learn more. Definitely give it a shot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kick starter! Jan 8 2013
By FlashFlood TOP 1000 REVIEWER

This pedometer measures the following: Steps, Stairs taken, Calories burned, distance traveled, time, day and a representation of how much exercise you've had in one day.

It is missing a heart rate monitor, which is really more of an advanced fitness user feature.

The calories are a little too generous, which may or may not be a bad thing. Some people might see that as a flaw, but it helped me feel a bit better about burning some calories due to the large amount already done.

Its best feature is its website integration. Fitbit has a personal website that the fitbit one uploads data to, which in turn puts all your relevant data onto one interface. They allow you to set goals, whether it's calories burned in a day, a desired weight, or any set of goals at once.

On this same website, you are shown badges or milestones that you have accomplished. From walking 10 miles in a day, to climbing ten stairs, the interface gives you a visible reward every time you complete these badges.

For example, on the first day where I just carried the fitbit around, I was about 80% sedentary, but after a few days of tracking my scores, I've started to alter my daily routines to include taking more stairs and less elevators or escalators. Just yesterday I went out shopping and I ended up breaking all kinds of personal records, and the fitbit celebrates with me.

You have the ability to tie your results to tweeter or facebook and share these milestones with everyone.

The website also lets you track your sleep patterns, log your daily intake of food and water, and track your weight.

I feel this product is perfect for someone who leads a less than active life who needs that little push. If you have a gamer mentality, this thing's stat-tracking is perfect for you. It isn't necessarily for those with an already active life style as there are some products with heart rate monitors which might be more appropriate.
