"Life has to end...Love doesn't.", July 8 2009
Eddie (Jon Voight) is an old man who has spent his whole life doing maintenance at the Ruby Pier amusement park. Today, one of the rides malfunctions and threatens a child's life. As he rushes to save her, he is whisked to Heaven where he meets five people from his past - people he loved and hated, and even one he didn't know at all. I expected this movie to be sappy and maudlin and in a way it was, but it was so well done I was quite moved by it. Eddie's trip to Heaven is much like Scrooge's in "A Christmas Carol," but instead of three ghostly guides, Eddie is met by five people who touched his life or who were affected by his and who ease his transition to the great beyond. It's a fantasy world with frightening war scenes and innocent love scenes, and while I watched I couldn't help but think of my own life, quite ordinary like Eddie's, but who knows how many I have affected for better or worse? I tear up easily at sad movies, but this time I went far beyond sobbing; I wailed the whole time. The movie really got to me. We're all going to find out what death is like someday and I'm more than curious. Also, as I've aged and lost dear ones, I long to see them again. This is a thought-provoking, tender tale that really touched my heart.

Surprise and coincidences, Jan 7 2010
A friend gave me the Book FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN . The very same night the Movie was on TV.Generaly the book is better than the Movie. But not in this case.Anyway -I loved it ,it warms your heart. My friend never saw the Movie .I was looking high and low to find a copy somewhere. So just before Christmas I had this inspiration- Amazon -and low and behold there it was.I ordered 3 copies. One for my friend and one for me, the other one for my daughter. We all loved it and are touched by this wonderful story. The day after my daughter and her husband were watching it,they visited friends, and the Lady excitedly told her about this book she came across-Five people you meet in Heaven.Of course she had to borrow the DVD. It seems the Book and/or the DVD is finding the people who are interested in such things. It is such a heart warming and surprising story ,it makes ME looking forward to meet my Five people in Heaven. Eberhard Hahn

Fie people you meet in heaven, Jan 7 2011
This review is from: Five People You Meet in Heaven (DVD)
This is one of those movies where you think everything is predictable, but jump on for the ride and this movie will make you think. We always wonder why certain people come into our lives, and this is a great demonstration of such...you will not have wasted time with this one!!
