Rhiannon Paille may just amaze us as the new J.K.Rowling..., Mar 11 2012
By S. Grosse - Published on Amazon.com
My best friend recommended this book to me - knowing full well that pretty much all I read are police procedurals and academic journals, lol.
But, apparently trusting her more than my natural scepticism, I picked up "Flame of Surrender" - and literally stayed up all night reading it! Which must be a first for me with a 'fantasy' novel. Although the beginning was soft in pace, it quite ingeniously brought you into the folds of this otherworldly realm. The eloquence and literary style made it easy, even for me who is not used to reading this genre, to feel completely at ease and able to submerge myself in the experience of living in that story world, at that time.
I stayed up all night until I had finished the book (and yes, the action quickly turned to breath catching excitement).
I humbly admit that one should probably really never categorically dismiss any kind of literary experience until they have given one of the superior examples of that genre a chance.
The way the tale ended I am hoping that there are sequels in the making - and I for one am going to be on the waiting list for the next one. What an amazing surprise for me. Rhiannon Paille ..... I'll have to remember that name. :)

Surrendering to your Destiny, Nov 9 2011
By Bella - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Flame of Surrender (the Ferryman and the Flame, Book One) (Paperback)
Krishani and Kaliel are two young lovers destined for very different paths - one as a guide to the dead, the other with the power to destroy the world. Each one faces a destiny that has been drilled into them over time, destinies that they have come to accept, until their paths cross and a new, entwined destiny emerges. For lovers of Science Fiction, the extraordinary new world of Avristar created by Rhiannon Paille is in itself an adventure. But when adding the twists and turns of the love between the protagonists, the way they come to terms with the differences in their lives, the obstacles their love faces, and the choices they make, Rhiannon Paille has created in her protagonists a mirror for what we ourselves face when searching for our own paths. And in giving the reader an ending that is so unexpected, she shows just how life doesn't always go the way you want or expect it to. She leaves you wondering and longing for the next chapter in Krishani's and Kaliel's destiny.

Lord of the Rings meets Romeo and Juliet but sexier and sadder, Nov 9 2011
By Shelly Varuca - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Flame of Surrender (the Ferryman and the Flame, Book One) (Paperback)
I felt like I was in Avristar while reading this book. The writing seemingly transports you to this beautiful world. I could smell the apples and feel the wind. I loved the talking trees and the Merfolk. The land itself was quite perfect.
Kaliel and Krishani were amazing. They reminded me of Arwen and Aragorn, Romeo and Juliet and Tristan and Isolde. These two will go down in history as one of the greatest tragic couples.
The best part about the relationship is the sexy scenes between K & K, it's very hot without being sleazy. They're affectionate and passionate and romantic at the same time. I might have a little crush on Krishani. He's deep, sensitive, withdrawn, but tender when it comes to Kaliel. She's like his kryptonite, breaking his emo/ignorant shell and showing us who he really is. Kaliel on the other hand is always enchanting. She was very present in the novel, and for once I found her a very likable main character. She's just got this thing about her that can't be explained unless you read the book.
I bought this book originally at comic con and so I got a chance to meet the author and talk about her inspirations.
What I liked most after talking to her was the plot. You won't be able to guess the ending. Yes it's tragic, but it's done in a way that it's okay. Bittersweet ending that did make me tear up, but I'm just looking forward to the next book because I don't know what could be next after that.
I recommend this book to everyone who is looking for everyone who misses epic fantasy but doesn't want to compromise their rebellious, sexy, dangerous paranormal and urban fantasies. This one satisfies all the wants, I even detected some steampunk in there!
