This acclaimed Kiwi novelty band follow the release of their six-track Grammy Award-winning CD EP, The Distant Future, with their full-length debut. Features fully fleshed-out and professionally recorded versions of the duo's concerts and TV favorites. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement's trademark acoustic guitars lead the blitz, backed by a diverse array of instrumentation and production technique. This CD is definitely a good buy, its both very relaxing and very funny. It comes with a double sided poster rather than a lyrics book. I found it difficult to stifle laughter whilst listening to this on the bus, and thats even after having listened to this album several times. At no point is the music supposed to be taken seriously, its all light hearted fun. I just wish "Jenny" was on this album.

This seems to be more of a companion to the TV, which is exactly what you'll be looking for if you watch the show.

Sure some of the melodies are very reminiscent of pop songs... but that's kind of the point.
Think about is like a "What's going on" song to the tune of the Blow Monkeys' "Diggin your scene".
Inner City pressure is a great Pet Shop Boys "West End Girls" parody.

As with the other reviewers, I wish there were more songs, "Too many D*cks (on the dance floor)" is a great one not on this cd.

I love, love, love the Flight of the Conchords show. So this Cd is a fun callback to those shows. It has a nice sample of the songs of their show. Their music is supposed to be fun and light and you have to keep that in mind. I was disappointed some of my favourite songs weren't included on the CD and in truth these songs work better when they are put to video (i.e. on the show).
If you are a big fan you will enjoy the CD, but I would recommend buying the DVD first.
