Keep your boyfriend and your most valuable guest from trying to kill each other. (oops)

Celeste Tippen can't imagine a more perfect summer. Her boyfriend, Travis, has a job at her family's resort, which means lots of quality couple time. Unfortunately, she forgot about Nick Saunders, the hot son of the resort's wealthiest customers. Every year, Nick flirts with Celeste, and apparently this year is no different, despite the boyfriend who's watching their every move. She assures Travis that hanging out with the resident bad boy is the last thing she wants to do. If only she believed that herself. . . .

Celeste isn't looking forward to spending the summer apart from her boyfriend of almost a year, Travis. But after Travis pulls a senior prank at graduation, and gets caught, he has to work off his debt at Celeste's family's resort, Pinyon Ranch, where Celeste has to work every summer. Celeste realizes it could be the perfect summer...

Until she remembers that Nick Saunders will also be there. Nick's family is one of the wealthiest customers at the resort, and Celeste's parents want her to do whatever it takes to make them happy. And Nick is intent on flirting with Celeste, even after she warns him that she has a boyfriend.

Celeste spends the summer trying to make sure that the boys stay away from each other so no fights erupt, but Travis isn't happy that she has to spend so much time with Nick planning a party for the film festival.

Something happens at the end of the summer and Celeste has to choose between the two boys..will it be Travis, her almost-a-year boyfriend, or Nick, the rich hottie?

This was a cute teen romance story. It was a quick read. While there wasn't a lot of depth to them, I liked the characters. As I was reading the story, I found myself thinking "I'm so glad Celeste's with Travis" and other times I thought "Celeste should so be with Nick!"

This would be a great beach read for an older young adult!

5.0 out of 5 stars Trisha's Book Blog Review!! Fun, light read!, Jan 10 2010
By Trisha's Book Blog "Trisha" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Flirting With Boys (Paperback)
This book was really cute, and a quick read. It starts off with Celeste, and Celeste's best friend Devon. They are at Celeste's boyfriend Travis' graduation when all hell breaks loose. Travis and his buddies steal Celeste's parents golf cart from their resort and drive it on stage at graduation. After Travis wrecks the cart he gets busted and ends up having to work at Celeste's parents resort for the summer to make up for the damages. That is easier said than done when Nick comes back into the picture. Nick and Celeste have had a fling going on since Nick started coming to her parents resort. And let's just say that Nick wasn't ready to forget about it. Which causes problems between Celeste and Travis, and between Travis and Nick.
I was really happy with the ending of the book and who Celeste ended up with. This is a fun light read!

Celeste Tippen should be having her dream summer. Thanks to fate, her best friend Devon's summer plans of spending two months at a prestigious acting school in Scotland have fallen through and Celeste's boyfriend Travis going to be working at Pinyon Ranch too--thanks to a little incident involving a stolen golf cart from the resort. Instead her summer's turning into a nightmare as she finds herself playing referee between Travis and Nick, her summer flirtation for the last few summers. If that wasn't bad enough, Celeste finds herself having to spend more time with Nick than she ever planned.

FLIRTING WITH BOYS is a fun summer read. Ms. Abbot does a great job painting the scenes and it feels like you're there right along with Celeste at the resort. Celeste, for the most part is a very likable character, and I really liked watching her struggle with Nick, her summer boyfriend from years past.

One of the things that sort of took away from the book was Celeste's boyfriend, Travis. Sure, he's the so-called `bad boy' and is supposed to do things that good boyfriends don't do, but there were a few times when I found him extremely annoying and wondered why Celeste wouldn't just tell him off or get rid of him completely. Even at the big climax of the story, when everything is falling apart, you really want Celeste to wake up to the fact of the kind of guy Travis really is and the truth about Nick. I have to say most of my favorite scenes are between Celeste and Nick, especially when she's forced into helping him plan his own party. I really enjoyed the part where the two go to check out a band in Los Angeles. All in all, FLIRTING WITH BOYS is a great summer read.
