I had the gleeful opportunity to be in the studio for parts of this recording, and can attest that the workmanship was fantastically anal. The product itself attests, as well: great songs, nice "flow" through the playlist, and fabulous performances. The band itself is gone (save for a "reunion" date every few years), but this album is very worth getting, even if you have to find it used!

Day By the River manages to transcend the jam-band genre by actually writing good, thoughtful songs to serve as the launchpoints for their monstrous jams (see "Shed," and "Through the Eyes" for good examples). Like most similar bands, their studio work only offers a glimpse of their live show, but it is an impressive work nontheless. Also, the guitar showdown with the legendary Jimmy Herring in "Puddin'" is amazing.

I absolutely love this cd, I started listening to it because my mom would force me, but its GREAT, me and my mom actually agree on something musically! but the band is also very awesome, nice guys, and just so everyone knows I am in love with the fabulous Ted Lahey!!
