great historical story, gorgeous blu-ray,

This review is from: Flyboys [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Flyboys is the fascinating, true portrayal of American pilots who entered WWI early to fly for the French. This well-done film looks great on blu-ray thanks mainly to the period aircraft sequences, which seamlessly combines footage of antiques, miniatures, and CGI. Additionally, there are a number of great bonus features including, audio commentary, pop-up guide track, and some wonderful featurettes, the best being a comparative retrospective to the real squadron. There are also deleted scenes which would have made for a better film had they been included, but for the running time which already exceeds 2hrs 15min. Unfortunately, all the additional material results in compressed audio (where the dialogue is soft and sound effects loud), so those without a full home theater system will want to use the volume control at times. Still, the film is highly recommended and noteworthy for its exceptional aerial sequences.(The only distraction (which is disturbingly clear and constant on blu-ray) is James Franco's hair design (dark brown with highlights on top). If you can accept or ignore the seemingly unnatural colouring for 1917, then you'll better enjoy this film.)

Enjoyed the movie, though the tinted hair of the main character is totally from a different era. Gives you an idea of how treacherous it was for WWI pilots.
