Ruben is a sweet guy with a nice voice, but listening to him sing (and watching him sing while on AI) is really, well...boring. Don't get me wrong, Ruben is great, but I would not recommend this CD. It was nice listening/seeing him sing on American Idol for free, but paying for it? Eh...not worth it. His voice is soothing, perhaps if you want to lull a young child to sleep you could buy this CD as some sort of lullaby but otherwise, his voice just doesn't give the listener chills...

I was extremely let down with Ruben's CD. Being a fan of both Ruben and Clay I was expecting great things from both of them when their singles released. That being said, Clay not only lived up to my expectations he surpassed them. Ruben, however, did not.
While FWW is a good song, the recorded version lacks something that the live version had. It's not a bad song, I just feel it could have been better.
Superstar should have been left of the CD entirely. Not only is it horrible, it's boring. If I manage to listen to it more than once all the way through I can almost guarantee you that I'll be fast asleep by the end of it.
I hope to see better things out of Ruben, so far Ruben has just proved that Clay should have been the American Idol.

I am not a Ruben or Clay fan. And I think his voice is quite good.
But I think that it is a REAL DISGRACE to the song Flying Without Wings. People living in the USA might not know that Flying Without Wings is actually a cover of Westlife, which was released in the UK back in 1999.
It was one of Westlife's greatest song and the 're-mix' and 're-melody' is a real disgrace to Westlife.
Anyone who had heard Westlife's version would undoubtly agree that the original version is much clearer, not so 'soulful' and 'heavy'. 'Flying Without Wings' is suppose to give you the feeling of light and 'flying' But Ruben totally brings you down to earth with his version.
I feel more like 'drowning' than 'flying' listening to his song.
I am not saying that he is a bad singer or anything. But if you want to do covers, please honour the original artist.
The 1 stars I give is actually for the amazing lyrics. For Ruben's voice - 0 Stars.
P.S. You can hear a snippet of Westlife's original cover in their Official Website.

I first want to say that I am neither a Clay fan nor a Ruben fan. I personally couldn't care less for either of them.
After listening to these songs, I'm clueless as to why people even waste their time debating over these "artists". NEITHER CLAY NOR RUBEN ARE ARTISTS!!! THEY ARE MERELY SINGERS!! In other words, a small, techically oriented, musical dork (the real artist) who lacks the drop dead physical features and charm of our American Idol sits in a studio devising his next, mediocre hit for Ruben to sing.
Fans will listen to the songs for a month, if the songs are at the higher end of the mediocrity spectrum, maybe a year. After this period, the songs will never be remembered and it will be as if the songs were never created in the first place. AND WHY!!?!? BECAUSE THE SONGS ARE MEDIOCRE AT BEST!!
Why not make American Idol about who can create the best, most original, composition, not who has the best "voice", God knows what that means anyway (There are many different voices that sound good in different contexts, "best" is only a matter of opinion). Thousands upon thousands of people sing and thousands more are trained to sing every day, however, the ability to create timeless music is possessed by much fewer. Discovering and Idolizing those, I believe, would be a much more worthwhile endeavor.
Unlike those that listen to musical acts like Mr. Studdard and Mr. Aiken, I've actually had the pleasure of listening to music that is stirring and memorable, music that has much more depth and effectively employs a plethora of timbres in addition to or in place of the human voice. Sadly, this music will not be fed to you via the Radio, you will not find it on TRL either, you will actually have to seek it out.

I ABSOLUTELY love this CD. It was definlitly worth the wait. It appears that Ruben's (or should I say Ruben's idea),management really took time and thought about us the people. They didn't just rush this abulm. It appears his (Ruben) hit "No Ruben" is a dedication to all his fans for helping get him where he is today. His hit "What If" is a song I feel really comes from Ruben. You know maybe a question Ruben thinks about daily when trying to decide should he or should he not try to date. His hit "Sorry 2004"(first release single) will surely be used by all the men in the year to come and OH my, I know that all the ladies will melt after hearing "AFter the Candles Burn". All of his rendentions of "Old Cuts' are great. He has something fast, something slow, something new and something old. Ruben has not forgot where most of his pfactice of singing has come from. Ruben has a(n) army of CHURCH friends, so he even added music for the SOUL.(Flying without wings& his ballard with Fred Hammonds. I've waited so long for this album, but yes, I will end by sayingit has proven to be PERFECTION AT LAST.
