5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded expectations Dec 10 2010

I usually go with Lonely Planet or Rough Guides, but this was more up to date so I gave it a shot (went to Bs. As. last July). Glad I did-- very good, up-to-date recommendations from a team of people who knew what they were talking about, from fashion to food (unlike the others, which the reviews sometimes feel more like happenstance). I always thought Fodor's was for the wealthy American tourist who wanted to stay at the Hilton, but they proved me wrong on this one!
1.0 out of 5 stars Very inaccurate, even with second addition May 4 2012
By Meghan Keeley - Published on Amazon.com
This book was so frustrating because so much of the information was incorrect/ outdated. As an other reviewer said, some restaurants had closed or moved well before the 2010 second addition, and this information was not updated. I got so tired of the inaccuracies I made a list of them and sent them to the editors. Do not buy this book.
1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed. Inaccurate information all around. Jan. 26 2011

We are currently half way through our 8 day/7 night stay in Buenos Aires. We brought multiple guides with us but have been using Fodor's BA more than the others since it's the only guide we have that isn't for all of Argentina. We've been shocked and disappointed with this guide.

Our first night we found out that a recommended restaurant where we planned to dine closed in 2009 (we have the 2nd edition of this guide published in March 2010). There are other weird inconsistencies; for example one of the maps shows the Four Seasons restaurant (which is reviewed in the book) located blocks away from the hotel itself. The boundaries used for different neighborhoods is also unclear. It can be very difficult to figure out which neighborhoods to look in and restaurants that are all in close proximity and listed in the same neighboorhood in other guides are located in different (and seemingly random) sections in this one.

I've always had good luck with Fodor's guides in the past but this book was a huge let down. One good thing - the shopping section has proven accurate and useful.
