The guide was very handy in finding good restaurants after we had our fill of the all inclusive meals at our hotel. Went with Fodors choices and was not dissapointed at all , and the maps made them a snap to find. We are going back next Feb and will bring the book to explore more beaches we didn't have time for this year. Enjoy, Steve

I purchased this travel book specifically because it had a 2011 date, however, this book has clearly not been updated in years. The hotel where I stayed (Villa la Estancia) opened around 2005 and was not listed in this book. Many of the shops and restaurants listed were closed. The book itself was fine if it had been up to date. Having the 2011 copyright date is a complete misrepresentation and the publisher should clearly state that although the book may have been printed in 2011, it has not been updated since.....2005 or 2006.

We used this book mainly for dining recommendations, particularly around Marina Vallarta. It was hit and miss. The first place we tried was quite disappointing. For example, the "fresh" salsas described were just a bottled selection. The food itself was nothing worth returning for. The maps were not very helpful--they neglected to include landmarks, which would have made it a lot easier to determine how far each point of interest was. We ended up going to restaurants not mentioned in the book that were busy and found they were terrific!
