From Publishers Weekly

Computer programmer Vanessa Bradley has spent the two years following her father's death caring for her mother and volunteering. This static existence has left Vanessa feeling emotionally barren, and she fears that at the ripe old age of 33 she has little chance of ever finding romance. But when Vanessa meets handsome art dealer and fellow volunteer Xavier Johnson at a banquet in Georgia, sparks fly. Xavier is just what Vanessa needs to spice up her life. Unfortunately, he is abruptly called overseas the very next day to collect Aboriginal artwork for an exhibition, and he unwittingly leaves Vanessa's number behind. Hurt that Xavier hasn't called, Vanessa tries to ignore him when she sees him two months later, but her scheming mother, Jackie, has plans to bring the two together. Vanessa and Xavier's rocky relationship is cemented when the couple travels to Australia to save Xavier's botched business deal with the Pintupi tribe and to rrescue Jackie who journeyed to the Outback seeking enlightenment and was left to die by shady tour operators. Snoe (Wishin' on a Star) powerfully evokes the rugged beauty of the Australian landscape, and readers will appreciate her sensitive treatment of Vanessa's strained relationship with her mother and Xavier's newfound bond with his father. Book Description

Mama said there'd be days like this...

But weeks? Months? Years? Vanessa Bradley's been single for so long she's forgotten how to be anything else. At thirty-three, her life has somehow become a steady status quo, sprinkled with work, volunteering, and taking care of her widowed mother. She desperately longs for excitement and love...

And then she meets a man with skin as smooth as caramel -- a man who knows what he wants and how to get it. With Xavier Johnson, Vanessa feels like a schoolgirl experiencing her first crush. But things don't go as expected -- and soon she's wondering if he's like all the rest, making promises he's not willing to keep.

But when her globetrotting mother goes missing, suddenly Xavier is the only one Vanessa can depend on. Could the road to runaway Mama be leading Vanessa and Xavier to some unexpected somewhere instead: to the glorious realization of a dream of romance and a forever tomorrow?

4.0 out of 5 stars Good tale of two scarred souls., July 28 2001
This review is from: Followin' a Dream (Mass Market Paperback)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent ethnic romance, July 4 2001

This review is from: Followin' a Dream (Mass Market Paperback)
After her father died, computer programmer Vanessa Bradley moved back to Columbus, Georgia from Atlanta to be with her poet mother. Though she had made a few friends in Atlanta, Vanessa has always been a loner and though she is in her thirties, she never had a serious relationship with anyone. This includes her parents who raised and nurtured her, but truly were too deeply wrapped up with one another.

To Vanessa's shock, Xavier Johnson wins a volunteer award for his participation in women's shelters and similar issues. Males just do not do that kind of thing at least in Vanessa's mind. Still when Xavier and Vanessa meet, they click.

Her mother Jackie decides that an Australian Aborigine art show will allow her to communicate with her dead spouse. Xavier is also involved in the exhibit. When Jackie vanishes, a frantic Vanessa turns to Xavier for help in finding her missing mother. Together they seeking the lost poetess while traveling the world in pursuit, but find a deep love at the same time.

FOLLOW' A DREAM is an exciting ethnic romance that takes readers on quite a journey with the ultimate destination being that of a loving relationship. The story line is fast paced and quite enjoyable, but requires a bit of acceptance. The characters make the tale spin as the lead protagonists are one heck of a duo and the support cast helps the reader understand the emotions and motives of Vanessa and the X-Man. Readers will delight in Eboni Snoe's latest romantic escapade.
