THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!, Dec 3 2008

Everyone I've shown this book to has flipped over it. Ever page has either an amazing image that will make you drool or a curious anecdote that will leave you wanting to know so much more. One of the more interesting parts is discovering the processes behind these iconic covers, made on a budget with pre-digital techniques. In a time of recession woes it's good to remember that brilliance doesn't require deep pockets.
This book is incredible. 5 shining stars.

Awesome, Timeless Book - Great Gift Too, Dec 8 2008

I really had no idea to expect when I picked this up, as I really didn't know the history or purpose behind it - and I was utterly impressed by the amount of music history and art included into one photo book. The images are amazing and crazy - especially for the years in which most of the stuff was done. This is a definite gift idea for both the art/photo lover AND the music lover from any of the bands that Hipgnosis created art for, like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Alan Parsons Project, to name a few. I bought it for my Dad, but I kinda wanted to keep it for myself. Sigh.

Inspiration, Dec 8 2008

This book is amazing! If you are addicted to design, this book will provide the fix. Seeing how all this iconic art was created, before digital media, really made my head spin. In the cover of "Houses Of The Holy" for instance, the technicolor rocks and children were all tinted by hand! Today it would only be a few clicks away. Take a ride down Psychedelic Blvd and read how your favorite album art was born! As a young designer or art student this book is a must have.
