Robert A. Heinlein was born in Missouri in 1907. He served in the navy, studied astronomy, maths and politics and owned a silver mine before starting to write science fiction. During his writing career he won four Hugo Awards and the first Grand Master Nebula Award for lifetime achievement. He died in 1988.
