This is quite possibly Tina Turner's best solo album. Yes, "private Dancer" was a successful comeback album but it was a mixed bag of good and bad tracks. Next came "Break Every Rule" which was fun but commercial sounding. However, in 1989, she blessed us all with this very impressive album full of tracks that remain as fresh today as they did back in 1989. Tina moved away from the commercial synthesizer sound that featured on her previous two albums.
This album's highlights include the very impressive title track which I am surprised wasn't a massive hit single. It's that good. If you get a chance, check out the video for it on her "Simply the Best" DVD. Another great track on this album is "Steamy Windows" a cover of a great R&B classic. Tina makes it her own. The very catchy "I Don't Wanna Lose You" is also included on this album. The big hit single "The Best" is included on this album (probably my least favourite) but the song has its moments.
Even for semi- Tina fans, this is the album to get out of all her albums. Yet sadly overlooked on its initital release in 1989.

I saw Tina in Las Vegas 2 years ago and I loved the concert, actually it was the best one I've ever been to and while I was there I bought Tina's "Simply the best" and "Twenty four seven" which are fabulous. But some months ago I went to a friends house and she was playing this album and I recognize some songs as: "steamy windows", "the best", "foreign affair" and a song that I heard many years ago in Europe which was a big hit, the song is "be tender with me baby", so I told her that I loved the cd and she told me that this cd sold almost ten million copies back in 1990 and that Tina had Grammy nominations and all that.
So when I went back to the US (I live in Peru, and it's very difficult to find good cd's) I looked for it and I went to every store that I saw and I couldn't find it and I was impressed because one of the people working in a music store told me that I was going to be able to find it via catalogue (I can't understand that an album of a big magnitude of success was only available by that method) but I was lucky and I found it at Virqin.
I can can tell you that Tina was at her best with this album, all the songs have beat and great rhythm and the Lyrics are also wonderful. "The best" is considerate a classic, "steamy windows" has hot sticky lyrics with tina's unique style.
"Undercover agent for the blues" is a great blues track, "be tender with me baby" shows Tina from the bottom of her soul, aswell as "Ask me how I feel". Through the years I had collected all Tina's solo albums and "Foreign affair" is the best without question, so if your a Tina fan and I you don't have this one you're missing a big piece and if your looking a your first Tina cd get this one and get it here(amazon.com) if you're in the US, because it's not easy to find it in stores, it's not believable but it's true.
Tina your next album has to be the sequel of "Foreign affair" and please don't ever stop singing. Now I'm a big fan of yours.

"Foreign affair" is one of those albums that you just must have.
Tina Turner is a legend in music and everybody thinks that her 1984 hit album "Private dancer" it's her best because of the several Top 10 hits, the bunch of Grammy awards that it won and the almost 20 million copies it sold but "Foreing affair is more than that. Tina is at her very best (I'm not saying that she is not good anymore)I mean her look, she was still with her long hair, her voice, her lyrics and singing were stronger.
"Foreign affair" besides being and album full of strengh and fantastic lyrics and sounds was a very big hit. It sold almost 10 million copies, was nominated for several Grammy awards and has classic hits such as the #1 "The best", and the Top 16 singles "Steamy windows", "Be tender with me baby", "Foreign affair", "I don't wanna lose you" and "Look me in the heart".
This album was produced by Tina and hit singer/producer Tony Joe White who actually wrote some of the songs for the album.
Whether you're a Tina's fan or not you must have this one, really you won't be sorry at all.

This album could very well be a greatest hits in it self, it is that good. From the opening catchy stylish "Steamy Windows", to the wonderful Rock ballad "The Best" to the wonderful pop bluesrocker metamorphed "Foreign Affair", this is a cd that are not allowed to be skipped by any lovers of real music.
The song "Foreign Affair" is by the way the best song on the album, but the other songs are also very good.
The album will always be known for the song "The Best" a Major hit worldwide, and a great song in its own right to. But it would be wrong to just listen to that one, because of all the gems here. I already mentioned 3 of them, but "Look me in the heart" and "Undercover Agent for the Blues" and "I dont wanna lose you" are sweet too.
Tina`s voice is at the top here. The songs are catchy rock at its best, the band is top notch and the songs are very well written. These songs are radiofriendly songs that also can be played over and over again, they are eternal. Foreign Affair is a great song to play while driving with windows up and wind blowing in your hair.
I cannot recommend this cd enough, it is simply stunning.
