Product Description

From School Library Journal

Grade 8 Up—In their latest episode, Bridget goes to Turkey on an archaeological excavation and Lena takes a painting class in Providence. Tibby stays in New York to take classes, and Carmen attends a theater festival in Vermont to work as backstage crew. There are new love interests, loss of virginity, and breakups and makeups. The themes are familiar, but fans who already identify with the characters will want to read more about their latest exploits. The pants pay a more prominent role than they did in the third book and a significant event takes place as each teen receives them. The possibilities and impossibilities of love are explored as Bridget is attracted to the married leader of the excavation team and Tibby fears she is pregnant. When Carmen auditions and lands a major role in the theater production, she worries that she cannot handle the part. Although squeamish at first, Lena becomes attracted to a fellow art student when they agree to pose in the nude for each other on weekends. Although the ending is a bit unrealistic, fans will surely suspend judgment as they delight in the story. The quotes from famous people that open each chapter are the most profound words in the book, but young romance readers and those wanting light fare will not be disappointed.—Linda L. From Booklist

According to the publisher, this title marks "one last, glorious summer" for the traveling pants, and it's a time of changing identities and growing independence for the Sisterhood. As they discover new talents after their first year of college, the girls face increasingly grown-up dilemmas: an unwanted-pregnancy scare, crushes on married men, malicious co-workers, and questions about how to know if a love is lasting. By summer's end, each realizes that, with or without the pants, she is confident, talented, and lucky to share in such a nurturing lifelong friendship. A strong, satisfying conclusion that won't disappoint fans. Gillian Engberg

5.0 out of 5 stars wow welcome back ladies and of coarse the pants, Mar 2 2007
This review is from: Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood (Hardcover)
what a wonderful ending to a great growing up saga. tibby loves brian but will one time of passion lead to a devestating break up? will bee find herself in trouble again? and carmen what happened to carmen? will she find herself and be true to what she believes it? and lena, enough of kostos already, or is it? lena does something so surprising that you will think she has lost her mind. What about the pants? have they lost their magic? will they ever be the same again? these girls are growing apart but the one thing that connects them is the pants. can they work their magic and bring the fab four back together? read and find out

5.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, Aug 26 2011
Gold Star Award Winner!

FOREVER IN BLUE is truly a bittersweet book! It has a truly amazing story but I'm sad that this is the final book in the SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS series. I never wanted this series to end! It is a remarkable ending to such a great series, though!

Lena: She is afraid that when she finally forgets about Kostos he will reappear. At her college she is taking a summer painting class and maybe she will meet someone new there.

Carmen: Shy Carmen, who thinks that she is invisible to the rest of the college students, finally makes a friend. She and her new friend have a summer that no one would suspect.

Bridget: She goes on an archaeological dig in Turkey and meets someone that she can't have. But what about Erik, who is still in love with her???

Tibby: Tibby and Brian have a few rough spots in their relationship. Will they be able to handle it? Or will it mean the end of their relationship?

As I'm sure you can tell there is never a dull moment while reading this book. There is always something going on with everyone. There is a major twist in the end of the book that I never saw coming. You will have to be the judge on whether it's a good twist or not, but I thought that it was well put and really tied in to the story.

Just as a warning, though, if you have not read the first three books in this amazing series (THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS, THE SECOND SUMMER OF THE SISTERHOOD, GIRLS IN PANTS) do not read this book until you have read the others. I wouldn't want you to ruin a perfectly good, well-written book!

5.0 out of 5 stars too bad it has to end, but it's a great ending, May 25 2008
This review is from: Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood (Hardcover)
well this book had be up all night, I couldn't put it down because I had to know what happened. I think all the characters went on paths that were so right for them and in the end you can tell they've grown.
It's definately more mature than the ones before it (granted, more sex) but I think that's because that's really what girls their age are going through. But if that's the kind of thing that turns you off or you don't want to read then I don't think you'll enjoy it as much as the previous ones.

But it's so sad that it had to end! But nevertheless, it was a good, satisfying, bittersweet ending.

I guess all fans can do now is wait for the second movie.
