I still like "Forever Your Girl!" I still play it every year, namely during the summer! I finally bought the CD in Atlanta in 2002 after 13 years of having the cassette. This album set the tone for the dancing and choreography that dominated the next decade in videos and live performances. It doesn't sound dated like some '80s albums--the music is heavy on the rhythms and the beats! Very fun, danceable, escapist and so very funky!!!! I still love "Knocked Out", "Cold Hearted", "Straight Up", "The Way That You Love Me" and "I Need You". I like the other songs too like the ballad "Next To You"--it sounds very Atlanta-like in its landscapes. I believe that it was the benchmark to what Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez are doing now. Paula's voice is girlish and a little squeaky on some songs, but she did sound good on all of them. Janet Jackson was already hot too in '89-'90 (though Paula's album came out in June 1988), but Paula really gave Janet some stiff competition. Paula's recent judging on American Idol makes this album far more respectable now! Her recent visibility will make more people and newer listeners to buy this album.

And the results speak for themselves!!
With her angelically squeaky voice, bubbly personality, and take-charge attitude, this chick was a real force back in the late '80s. Along with Janet Jackson ("JJ" as she's known to the playas of da world), Paula Abdul almost singlehandedly drove the music industry forward, back in '88. Along the way she broke new ground in her videos. Remember that cat she flirted with in the "Opposites Attract" video? It inspired Roger Rabbit and Beavis and Butthead. Remember the sizzling choreography in the risque "Cold Hearted" video? It inspired "Melrose Place" and ABC's "The Bachelor."
Simply put, Abdul paved the way for future imitators like J-Lo and even Gloria Estephan. (What in the world ever happened to her????). What a career Abdul has had!! From a Laker girl to a singer to an analyst on one of TV's biggest shows ever, Paula A is a true hero to women and men of all ages!!
I WISH HER LUCK FROM HERE ON OUT!!!!!
MAYBE SHE AND SIMON WILL FINALLY GET TOGETHER ON IDOL'S 3RD SEASON!!!!! LATER, DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Here I Go again!, I decided to make funny reviews since...my serious reviews, well do not get votes :-( so here I go with one of my favorite albums ever....so wassup with this record?, bad hair day cover, corny/cheesy title, an a recognized face of dance, well there's nothing funny about Abdul, who's "Opposites Attract" video should remind anyone of Roger Rabbit, but this is not in anyway a cartoon album...it's daring challenging, "Straight Up" it's an anthem to get things right, wassup tell the truth! what u want bro?, just her timeless ohhh ohhh ohhh, may recall you better days of the late 80's when you used AQUA NET, another anthemic song is the sassy "Cold Hearted", who would dare to tell, this is not an MTV classic!, to tell the truth straight there is not another POP artist that could deliver such a believeble RAP phrase as Paula in this...and yes! we all men are COLD HEARTED SNAKES, we have fun in life....REPTILE!, next! U have to watch the video of "Forever Your Girl" to take it easy, cos, this is the cuttest song of the whole album...but the cheesiness of it, leads the song to anoyment..."....baby he could promise me diamond...but I'm Forever Your Girl..." common Paula! get the bling bling!...good by the time of Abdul histeria...kind of unheardable by now, for some, ...now the next track "The Way That You Love Me" a track made for Chaka Khan...yes! I Feel For her...this is totally funky and has a memorable beat...Paula hit it big with it..and her sleek voice suited this track well cos "It Ain't.....Read more ›

this album is in all ways awesome. a cool mix of urban and pop with the hottest grooves u could imagine. my first listen blew me away. from the beginning my fav track was "The way that you love me". of course with many people when they think of paula abdul they think of her signature hit "Straight Up" which rode high on the pop and r&b charts in 89'. once u hear this album and want more, ur wish is granted with the cd "Shut Up and Dance" which features great remixes. the "album" tracks in other words "non-singles" are great highlights. "state of attraction" should've had a remix made. "I Need You" is new jack swing with that slammin snare, and "Next To You" is an extremely beautiful R&B ballad that many ignore unfortunately. it sounds very much like it's produced by babyface as he produced "Knocked Out". i would recommend this to anyone who loves R&B and Dance music. Paula shines hear and so do the grooves.
