4AD introduces Twin Shadow, the latest addition to its burgeoning roster, rubbing shoulders alongside the likes of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Bon Iver, Deerhunter and The National. Debut album Forget will be released everywhere outside of North America on November 15th. Twin Shadow is the nom de plume of Dominican-born George Lewis Jr. The troubled son of a hairdresser and a "teacher who lived many lives" (semi-professional football, massage therapy, film maker) his formative years were spent in suburban Florida. Later, George escaped the palm trees and travelled north to New York, where the long and slow gestation of Forget took place over a series of many months in his Brooklyn apartment. His efforts impressed Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, who not only lent his production skills to the co-produce the record but also offered to release Forget on his newly established label Terrible Records in the US. On Forget Twin Shadow offers a panoramic view of a musical landscape that spans decades, veering from the full-throttle power ballad 'Slow' to the shimmering Niles Rodgers-tinged disco of 'At My Heels' and the new wave synthesized breaks of 'Castles In the Snow'. Describing his debut George says, "It's bedroom music, but it's been done with the same attention as many classic B-movies. It's not like a slapdash home video though; it's someone operating with very little at 100-percent of their ability. I can say without shyness Forget was and is a product of the hardest work I've ever put into anything." 'Slow' is the first track to be lifted from Forget. Named 'Best New Music' by Pitchfork and given the seal of approval from The Fly, The Independent and NME, it offers the perfect insight into the world of Twin Shadow.
