Product Description

Review

"LaFevers sets up an effective fantasy realm, populated with likeable characters…. A good choice for readers not ready for Lloyd Alexander’s ‘Prydian books, which features a similarly young and appealing hero." —School Library Journal

Book Description

Kenric’s homeland is in danger. Fierce Mawr hounds and grymclaws prowl the land and skies, and an evil power is on the rise. Lord Mordig has killed the true king and plans to rule Lowthar by forging a new blade of power. When Kendric’s father disappears, Kendric knows he must find him, before it’s too late.

I think this book has alot of action and really keeps your interest. I couldn't put the book down and I just wanted to keep reading and reading and reading. It's not that long, less than 200 pages. Once you read this one, you'll have to read all three!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Mom/Son bedtime reading, Mar 17 2009

My 6-year-old son and I LOVE this trilogy. We read it each night at bedtime. He hates to go to bed, but he actually asked me last night if we could hurry up and go to bed so that we could read. It has just the right amount of suspense and scary stuff to keep him riveted without having him end up in my bed in the middle of the night. No pictures, which is actually good because the pictures along with books of a similar scariness level tend to send him over the edge. We've started several books in the past that he didn't want to read anymore after he saw a picture of the first goblin/pixie/etc. I think I enjoy these almost as much as he does!
