Product Description

FoxTrot Sundaes is a cool treat that follows the amusingly chaotic lives of the Fox family--Jason, Peter, Paige, and their parents, Roger and Andy--since FoxTrot became a Sunday-only comic strip.

In this anthology, Amend gathers all the color Sunday comic strips since FoxTrot went weekly and delivers a concentrated dose of his irreverent take on teen and family life. It's a concoction so consistently fresh and funny that in 2007 the National Cartoonists Society presented Bill Amend with its prestigious Reuben Award.

With FoxTrot Sundaes, fans get a full serving of the hits-close-to-home humor that is the hallmark of the strip.

About the Author

Bill Amend and his wife and two children call the Midwest home. He is a graduate of Amherst College with a degree in physics. In 1998, FoxTrot was syndicated. When he's not drawing his strip and making people laugh, he can be found tinkering with computers and playing video games.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Comic Treat, Nov 7 2010

This review is from: FoxTrot Sundaes: A FoxTrot Collection (Paperback)
At the end of 2006, Bill Amend semi-retired and "Fox Trot" became a Sunday only strip. FOX TROT SUNDAES is the first collection of the Sunday-only "Fox Trot" strips. Included are all the strips from 2007, 2008, and the first part of 2009. Each of the strips is a stand alone strip. My favorite in the whole bunch is the Halloween "Peanuts" tribute where Jason dresses up as Charlie Brown with a sheet full of holes. There's also a strip that parodies INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, one that pays homage to CHARLOTTE'S WEB, one that parodies of Guitar Hero, one that references IRON MAN, and an allusion to STAR WARS. FOX TROT SUNDAES is a must have for "Fox Trot" fans.

I am 50+ but when I found out I had to be stuck in bed for several days with nothing to do, the Foxtrot books came to my rescue. Everyone who visited me borrowed these books, then when I was up and around again, I donated them to the local library. Worth every penny.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing the Old Days, July 22 2011
By Matthew E. - Published on Amazon.com
FoxTrot Sundaes is a decent way to find out what's been up with Jason, Peter, Paige, Roger and Andy Fox; especially since FoxTrot became a Sunday-only comic strip. With the "death" of the weekly comic however the problems with the strip, such as too much repetition, are brought a little clearer into focus. Past collections, featuring work before Bill Amend cut back to once to the once a week schedule, allowed the reader to experience gags and visual humor that ran over several strips. However with Sundaes, the reader is left with more independent incidents rather than flow of characters or story. Also because of fewer strips, the book so quickly guts the year and the reader is left feeling déjà vu when the Fox kids are once again out of school or holidays come so quickly again. Reading these strips a year apart in the papers is one thing, but in a collection like this you quickly see the recurrence and duplication of the similar themes and even the same jokes. Newer reader may have a harder time coming to connect with the characters in their Sundaes adventures which can allow for only so much depth. Still maybe anytime with the Fox Family is better than none at all.
