I carve stone and this was suggested by a friend as a DVD of interest. I'm glad I gave it a try as I acquired a lot of useful information. May try carving wood, too!

There is no one better to demonstrate power carving than Mr. Russell. I have been carving by hand for over 55 years and winning art awards with Intarsia and other art forms at almost every juried art show I enter. A majority of the bas-relief art sculpture I have done has been made with the use of power carving tools like flexible shaft grinders, sanding drums and other cutting and shaping tools. Mr. Russell is so comfortably ready in his multi-disc classes to show you all his secrets and tools and he never misses a stroke in presenting it to his audience. He is a credit to his craft and is unselfish in sharing his knowledge with others

This makes a lot of things clear about how to plan your carving. It has some good pointers about chosing a flexible shaft machine and does a good job of demonstrating how to use the tools. The quality of the video and sound are top notch--I did not have a problem with being able to see what he was demonstrating or hearing him.
