About the Author
Lorene Cary is a celebrated novelist based in Philadelphia. Her book about the Underground Railroad, "The Price of a Child", was the inaugural selection for Philadelphia's One Book One Philadelphia in 2003. She is a senior lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. She is the founder of the Art Sanctuary that brings Black intellectuals and artists to perform and speak.Her education began at St. Paul's and continued to the University of Pennsylvania where received a bachelor's and master's degree as well as from Sussex University in England. Ms. Cary has received numerous awards for her writing and teaching.
