Grauwels is quite wonderful. As a professional flutist trained in France myself, listening to his Gallic articulation and Paris Conservatoire inspired phrasing is redolent of a time when average citizens would frequently have intelligent conversations on the relative merits of Gaubert, Moyse, Fleury, Barrere, etc. (no offense intended to those thousands of others I left out!) You can just sense the great ghost of "papa" Paul Taffanel and I am sure that had he the opportunity to hear Monsieur Grauwels' work, he would have heartily approved. This is good stuff indeed!
