4.0 out of 5 stars terrific, Mar 26 2009
By Cathy Cook (Wingham, Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This is a great cookbook. The recipes are great and don't require ingredients that are difficult to obtain outside of major centres. Bonnie gives instructions for making things in the simplest ways possible. I also enjoy the narratives.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cooking with Bonnie... if only she was in my kitchen with her book, Jun 6 2009
By Novice Cook (St. Thomas, Ontario) - See all my reviews
I saw Bonnie Stern on City Cooks. I thought I would like to eat what I saw her make and I thought I could actually make it. She seems to have a very down to earth approach to cooking. I'm a novice cook in the true sense of the word "novice" so that was appealing to me. I live in a small town so I ordered it sight unseen and the actual names of the recipes aren't in the table of contents. Now that I have the cookbook, the recipes I saw her make on the show are probably some of the few in there that I would take a stab at making. Not that they don't look good. They just look a bit too involved for a novice like me and expensive to mess up. That said, I've only tried to make the Apple Cobbler and IT WAS GOOD. Lots of compliments and it's easy to make. I would give the cookbook a 3 for me but only because I think it's out of my league. A more experienced cook would probably get a lot out of it so officially, I will give it a "4".
