The first season of "Friends" is simply excellence! The plot is great, the characters are loveable, the dialogue is great, and the humor is excellent. The characters Phoebe Bufea, Rachel Green,Monica & Ross Gellar,Chandler Bing, and Joey are unforgetable and are great friends in this smash hit comedy.Episodes from "The Pilot","The One Where Underdog Gets Away","The One With The Monkey","The One With The Heart Candy Hearts","The One With Two Parts","The One With The Evil Orthodontist",and "The One With The Birth" to "The One Where Rachel Finds Out" are classic and fun episodes. You will learn to love and grow with these "Friends".I don't care how much the people on RottenTomatoes hates this show it is good.Make sure to check out this phenomenal first season.

The start of a beautiful "Friend"-ship, Jan 23 2004
This review is from: Friends: Season 1 (4 Discs) (DVD)
When the pilot first aired, I was in kindergarten. Though at the time I wasn't old enough to stay awake past the time it aired, I remember my mom always raving about Friends. I have since caught most of the episodes in syndication, on primetime reruns, and via the "Best Of Friends" DVDs. I'm thrilled that the entire seasons are, at last, making it to DVD. What is one of the funniest shows ever, Friends should be a part of anyone's DVD collection. In fact, I'd say that these DVDs are basically worth buying a DVD player. Whether your an old fan embracing the nostalgia provided by the discs, a new fan trying to catch up on old storylines, or someone who until now was unaware the show even existed, you will love these DVDs. Every Friends episode is utterly perfect. When you watch the Pilot and then watch an episode from the current (and final) season, you will see what I mean. The characters are already there in the very first episode. It's as if these actors were walking along, waiting to find Ross, Monica, Chandler, Rachael, Phoebe, and Joey. The characters never develope because they were just there in the beginning. How many other shows can you say that about?

BEWARE: Laugh Track Is Louder Than Dialogue!, Jun 1 2002
This review is from: Friends: Season 1 (4 Discs) (DVD)
We watched disc 1 and are halfway through disc 2. Video is good, so far I haven't seen any skips or freezes. HERE'S THE PROBLEM: ... Sometimes the laugh track is so loud, I can't hear the dialogue... unless I turn the volume up so loud that the laugh track and the segue music rattles my windows! It's better on some episodes, really bad on others. The mix actually varies within episodes! What happened? It's watchable, it's fun, and for the most part, this audio thing is not a problem. But for fifty bucks, the laugh track should not be louder than the jokes, and the segue music should not have me scrambling for the remote control before my neighbors call the cops! lol I know this sounds nit-picky, but it's bad enough that it's pretty distracting. I haven't explored all the special features yet, so I can't comment on them right now. Aside from the sound problems, my wife and I are really enjoying Friends without commercials! I just wanted to warn anybody who is thinking about buying this. It's watchable, and in most places it's not so bad, but there are some annoying moments where the audio is pretty screwed up. So now you know, and if you buy it, you won't be surprised. Maybe they'll fix this for the Season 2 release in September. ... Hasta Later, Robert
