Continuing episodes of the smash-hit television comedy series, documenting the lives and loves of six pals in New York City. Features all-star guest appearances by Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Ben Stiller, David Arquette, Isabella Rossellini & Jon Favreau.
Friends' peerless writing staff really spread the wealth in this pivotal third season. Each of this seamless ensemble's cast members is given a story arc that deepens and enriches their characters. Most devastatingly, Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel's (freshly minted Emmy-winner Jennifer Aniston) romance is torn asunder by Ross's jealousy (not to mention his one-night stand while the couple are, now famously, "on a break"). Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) is reunited with her half brother (Giovanni Ribisi) and meets a family friend (Terri Garr; inspired casting) who drops a Darth Vader-esque bombshell about Phoebe's parentage. Monica (Courtney Cox) begins the season reeling from her breakup with Richard (Tom Selleck, who reappears in "The One Where Monica and Richard Are Friends"), but rebounds with Pete (Jon Favreau from Swingers), a millionaire ("He's the perfect guy," she states. "He has everything. Plus he actually has everything"). Chandler is driven to increasingly hysterical attempts to "go through the tunnel" and commit to his relationship with Janice (Maggie Wheeler). And womanizer Joey (Matt LeBlanc) reveals his soulful side when he falls for an initially contemptuous theatrical costar. Also lending memorable support are Alison LaPlaca, as Rachel's self-absorbed new boss, and an Emmy-worthy Ben Stiller ("The One with the Screamer") as Rachel's new boyfriend whose volcanic temper only erupts in front of Ross.
Friends continues its hit-and-miss history with A-list cameos. Robin Williams and Billy Crystal ("The One with the Ultimate Fighting Champion") are about as funny as the woeful film they were hyping, Fathers' Day. More memorable is Isabella Rossellini ("The One with Frank Jr."), whom the hapless Ross meets just after crossing her off his "freebie list" of celebrities Rachel would allow him to sleep with. Other classic episodes include the season-opener, "The One with the Princess Leia Fantasy" and "The One with the Flashback," which offers some provocative near-couplings between Monica and Joey, Ross and Phoebe, and Chandler and Rachel. Add a chick and a duck ("The One with a Chick, and a Duck"), and you have a benchmark season in this irreplaceable series. But still: You'd think a million dollars an episode would buy some DVD cast commentary! --Donald LiebensonSee all Product Description

*The One With the Jam - Monica makes massive amounts of jam in this episode, but the funniest part is when Joey sits there eating jam with a spoon - right out of the little jars. This isn't the best episode ever, but it's really funny.
*The One With the Giant Poking Device - The Friends think that Ugly Naked Guy is laying dead on the couch, but they don't want to tell the cops that "The overweight naked guy we watch isn't moving" so they tape together hundreds/thousands of chopsticks to poke him through an open window.
*The One Without the Ski Trip - The Friends decide to go on a ski trip, but after a series of crappy events, they can't. They still have fun and cause endless laughter in the process.
These are just three of the funniest episodes out of 20-something. And that's just one season! Highly recommended to die hard Friends fanatics. The trivia game is also recommended.
Overall grade - A+
In this season, the ups and downs of love effects the other characters.Monica's heartbreak after the break up with Richard,Chandler's short term relationship with Janice,Lothario Joey falling for his play's co-star(Dina Meyer),and even Phoebe reunites with her musical partner(E.G. Daily).
The best episodes includes The One with The Princess Leia Fantasy,..Where No One's Ready(Going Commando),..with the Flashback,...the Giant Poking Device,...the Football, .. where Chandler can't Remember which Sister,..without the Ski Trip,and..Ultimate Fighting Champion.
The unofficial two part The One where Ross and Rachel Take a Break/ the Morning After was the high point of the season in which Ross and Rachel take a break, only to break up when Ross spends the night with Chloe,"The copy girl".The episode includes some of the funniest moments as well as the most heartbreaking.
Now on to the episodes and instead of summarizing them, I will rate them based on how funny they were and/or how emotional they were [5 being highest, 1 being lowest - it will be (funny)-(emotional) with possibly a comment]:
