5.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, Aug 26 2007
This review is from: Fringe Girl In Love (Mass Market Paperback)
This sequel to FRINGE GIRL didn't quite live up to the very high expectations set by the brilliant original, but it sure came close.

As the new year begins, everyone is in love. Dora and Noel. Liza and Stanley. Eli and Eric. Joya and Ben. Even Mr. and Mrs. Benet are doing unmentionable things in their bedroom (and writing a book about it)!

Of course, life is no fairy tale, and none of those relationships remain as blissfully perfect as they seem to be at first. Rifts are caused by an older brother, an old friend, a racist soon-to-be stepfather, and a hot young teacher with a hidden agenda and dozens of adoring followers.

Adora, her friends, and her family will work it all out in the end, though...Right?

FRINGE GIRL IN LOVE is just as funny, fresh and entertaining as the first book, but it lacked something that FRINGE GIRL had, that made FRINGE GIRL really stand out. FRINGE GIRL was about Adora's social revolution in her school. That was original, and wove the whole story together wonderfully. This sequel, however, lacks a thread to bind it all together: it's just the continuation of the lives of those characters involved.

Still, though, it's a fantastic book. It's well-written and full of great characters, and I hope to see more about Adora Benet in the future!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fringed twice., July 1 2007

Fringe Girl in Love wasn't as great as the first Fringe Girl, but it was still something fun to read. Some parts toward the middle were a bit slow but picked up once again. I agree with the previous reviewer, that this book lacks something that the previous book had. If there's another Fringe Girl novel, hopefully it will have that spark back.
