Rating: 3.5 stars. Minimal graphic sexual content.
Note: Stand Alone read. 6th in The McCabes: Next Generation series.
GOOD READ. Well written, engaging storyline, great supporting cast, and a strong family theme throughout. HOWEVER, the plot is very contrived, the romance a little rushed, and the hero's intentional manipulation of the heroine "for her own good," feels uncomfortable.
THE STORY revolves around New York ad executive, Samantha Holmes, dragged back to Texas by charming charter jet company owner and pilot, Will McCabe, to attend HER brother/HIS best friend's, wedding. The problem is, Samantha and her brother have been estranged since their parents died, and he, then 18, "left" her to the foster care system. Despite Samantha's reluctance, Will recognizes that they both need to face the past and helps them make peace.
OVERALL, touching story about letting go of past guilt, blame, and anger, and realizing family is important and you have to meet them half way. Easy read.
THE McCABES: Next Generation includes The Ultimate Texas Bachelor, Santa's Texas Lullaby, A Texas Wedding Vow, Blame It On Texas, A Laramie Texas Christmas, and From Texas With Love.
