About the Author

Michelle N. Jones
As a young grasshopper, Michelle spent many a day with her grandfather in the vast woods of Muskoka on the cusp of Algonquin Park either gathering maple syrup or helping to build small projects like an outhouse or a cottage. As an avid camper and hiker, she joined the Outer's Club in school and was hooked on canoeing, hiking, eating Mr. Noodles, and tenting it out in Algonquin Park from then on. Having backpacked throughout the entirety of Europe and spending almost 3 years abroad developing writing, travel and survival skills, she currently resides in her hometown of Muskoka awaiting the next exciting outing within the park and its surroundings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read July 6 2004
Format:Paperback
I am busy researching a future trip to Algonquin Park and was pleasantly surprised by this book. Normally these types of books read in a very dry manner, devoid of any genuine personable traits. However, Frommer's Algonquin Provincial Park, 2nd Edition is easy to read and less fussy than the normal guide books. Perhaps it's the writers style which makes the difference, but I found this book to be a concise and informative reference. Highly recommended.

The book is small and compact, which made it easy to carry with us. We used it as a general introduction, to select accommodation (Riverview Cottages in Whitney), and day hikes (Spruce Bog Boardwalk,Centennial Ridges Trail, and Beaver Pond Trail). All information was accurate and great recommendations.
