Purchased this book as we have had great success with others in the series. This one fell short only in some of the food/restaurant recommendations. Other books in this series (London and Paris) provided some good information about some "off the beaten track" places to eat. This one, not so much. San Francisco is a fantastic food town and to see a large grocery store chain recommended a couple of times on a couple of different walks was a bit disappointing. Still a great book and recommended.

As a San Franciscan and an avid walker, I can tell you this is book is chock full of good information regarding all the great places for the BEST urban hikes. City streets turn into trails of wonder especially when the reader follows along with the book in hand. Though the book focuses mainly on the northern half of the city, there is still much to be seen and discovered. The Frommers, are experienced travel writers that never cease to delight the curious mind of the urban hiker. Whether your local and looking for a staycation or a traveler looking for the secrets of the city, this is the book for you. The book is well-organized with glossy photos that are as enticing as the walks themselves. A must have.

I order the Frommer's 24 great walks in San Francisco. I was my first and only visit to this state so I wanted to get to see as much as I could. The only thing that happen was the book never got to me. I ordered the book on Aug.29,2010 and my trip to SF was Sept.20,2010. I was home a day from my trip when I recived the book.
