We used the book for several days of a road trip along the Maine coast. While I'm normally a fan of itinerary-based books, we often discovered cuter and more appealing towns by meandering around ourselves than driving 20-60 minutes to specifically go to their suggestions. The book doesn't really seem to have been written by an informed local. Certainly better than nothing, and it gives a lot of direction, but don't hesitate to deviate. The book does not have a monopoly on Main coastal gems.
